Kingston Technology has unveiled its first XMP-ready HyperX® DDR3 SO-DIMMs for notebook PCs. The new SO-DIMMs utilize the Intel Cantiga mobile chipset, and are Kingston's first laptop memory to pass Intel’s XMP (Xtreme Memory Profiles) certification process. The 1066MHz CL5 Kingston® ultra-low latency kits come pre-programmed with both JEDEC and XMP profiles for easy overclocking, and are targeted at high end gaming or desktop replacement laptops.

“Kingston worked closely with Intel to certify the new HyperX SO-DIMM memory for new DDR3 XMP-supported, Intel® Centrino™ 2 Processor Technology systems,” said Erik Reid, Director of Marketing for Intel's Mobile Platforms Group. “We laud Kingston's efforts in the area of extreme mobile performance and expect that PC gamers will love the way XMP delivers next-generation notebook PCs with unrivaled performance.”

The Kingston DDR3 HyperX SO-DIMMs are currently available in a 2x2GB kit clocked at 1066MHz with ultra-low latencies of CL5-5-5-15 at 1.5v, and are equipped with a sleek 'Hyper X' sky-blue heatspreader. The 4GB kit is currently retailing for US$137 at shop.kingston.com, and are expected to be in-stock on April 14.
