Intel has released some details of the next iteration in its Linux distribution, Moblin. Imhad Sousou, the head of Intel's Open Source division, said at a recent conference that Intel hopes to reduce the boot time of its' OS to 2 seconds. Several aspects of the OS can already load in seconds, and Intel feels that 2 seconds for everything is doable. The quick boot time would be essential for the intended uses of Moblin, such as car computers. Also announced was the new partnership with the Linux Foundation, a move which has been welcomed by the Open Source community.
