New reports suggest that HP will continue to offer a downgrade to Windows XP through April, 30 2010. Even though Windows 7 is nearing release, HP will continue to offer downgrades to Windows XP. HP will offer a downgrade to Windows XP from Windows 7 for its business line of computers. There is no word on whether HP will offer a downgrade for its consumer products. It is unlikely that consumers will be able to choose a downgrade since Windows XP "Mainstream Support" ends soon. Its likely that only business customers will be given the option to downgrade as they already have trained IT professionals that are familiar with Windows XP. Also, many businesses have not made the switch to Windows Vista and allowing for a downgrade will allow businesses to easily integrate new computers. No other companies have indicated that they will offer an extended downgrade period for Windows XP. A quote from HP also hinted that a retail release for Windows 7 may happen around October.
