Palm Pre Allows More Freedom For Application Developers

Apple has long had an app store that can be considered robust and perhaps even the best of app stores. Palm is hoping to unseat Apple in this with the applications allowed on the Palm Pre, the smart phone Palm is banking the future on. Palm believes that by taking away some of the restrictions present in iPhone applications, such as inability to run in the background, that it will be able to offer better applications. The Pre will also offer an application so that PalmOS applications can be run on the new webOS. The iPhone OS 3.0 will solve some of these issues, and its release may hinder the spread of the Pre.
