Gigabyte HD 4890 Videocard Unveiled
Today was launch day for the latest AMD Radeon 4800-series videocards with the release of the HD 4890. Along with that launch comes the Gigabyte GV-R489-1GH-B videocard based on the standard HD 4890 design. The release makes it the fastest single-GPU Radeon card in Gigabyte's product lineup and it sports some impressive features. The RV790 GPU core contains close to one billion transistors and higher memory bandwidth. With its 800 stream processors the GV-R489-1GH-B can pump out over one teraFLOPS of GPU computing power. Its 1GB GDDR5 frame buffer provides twice the data per pin of GDDR3 memory at the same clock speeds according to Gigabyte. The GV-R489-1GH-B graphics card provides DirectX 10.1 and Shader Model 4.1 support for the best in realistic gaming effects. The GV-R489-1GH-B also comes equipped with TeraScale graphics engine, Dynamic Geometry Acceleration and Quad mode ATI CrossFireX multi-GPU support. In addition to outstanding gaming capabilities, the card also has ATI's Avivo HD video and display technology supports Unified Video Decoder 2 for offloading the decoding of processing-intensive content for 1080p HDTV and HD video. The GV-R489-1GH-B also provides HDMI connectivity with 7.1 digital surround audio support. The V-R489-1GH-B is equipped with ATI PowerPlay technology that allows it to deliver maximum performance when needed while reducing power requirements in low-demand applications and at idle.
