Microsoft Office for the iPhone?
Microsoft Office isn't coming just yet, but it's getting closer. At the Web 2.0 Expo, Stephen Elop, President of Microsoft Business Division, hinted that Microsoft Office may be coming for the iPhone. However, when questioned about the statement by the interviewer, Elop said, "Not yet, keep watching." Currently, the iPhone allows users to view Microsoft Office files, but there is no support for creating or editing them. This has caused some business users to hold off on purchasing an iPhone and stick with Blackberry which supports creating and editing Office files.
However, for those iPhone users looking for a way to edit Office files, there's still hope. Quickoffice will be releasing an application to the iTunes App Store that will allow iPhone users to create and edit Word and Excel files. It will be released sometime this month and will retail for $13 USD per application (Word and Excel are separate) or $20 USD for the set. Screenshots and more information is available on the Quickoffice website.
