Verizon Hopes To Bring Broadband To Rural Areas Using 4G Network
Verizon Wireless has announced that it intends to use the recently purchased 700MHz spectrum to bring wireless broadband to rural areas across the United States. The main goal is to provide for cell phone networks, but the frequency may be exactly what is needed to bring broadband to those remote areas. Wired broadband networks cost a substantial amount of money, and running them to sparsely populated areas isn't financially viable. The new 4G network will allow Verizon to build fewer cell towers while still covering a great distance. With the desire of the government to bring broadband access to these areas, Verizon would be able to get all the help it needed to make this a reality.
