As you probably figured out by now, today was launch day for the latest and greatest card based on the ATI HD 4890 series. PowerColor launched its versions of the card with the announcement of the HD4890 and PLUS HD4890 cards making them the two fastest cards in PowerColor's product lineup. The HD 4890 offers 800 stream processors and standard clock speeds of 850MHz (GPU) and 975MHz (memory). PowerColor is also offering an overclocked version called the PLUS HD4890 with increased speeds of 900MHz for the core and 1000MHz for the memory. The base HD4890 boasts up to 3.9Gbs data rates using 1GB GDDR5 memory and the PLUS version kicks that up to 4.0Gbs. Other features include PCI_Express 2 and DirectX 10.1 support as well as Shader Model 4.1 support. PowerColor said the HD4890 and PLUS HD4890 will retail for US$259 and US$269 respectively with immediate availability. OCC was fortunate enough to be able to review the PowerColor HD 4890 here.
