While Larrabee, Intel's newest way to tick off both AMD and Nvidia, isn't set to be ready until later this year or the beginning of next, that didn't stop it from making a ruckus at GDC. Intel's new GPU based on their X86 design has something for developers who want a taste of Larrabee goodness. Intel has put a C++ prototype library on their website, and while it doesn't match Larrabee in speed, it does match it in style, as it has the same functionality. Larrabee is not only targeted at gaming applications, but because of its many core architecture using processing, and not GPU cores, it can be used for research and computing tasks as well.
