The latest version of AMD's Catalyst unified driver suite for Radeon based video cards was released today. Among the changes with the new driver is support for Windows 7 Beta operating systems, which includes Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) 1.1 compliance, and according to the release notes this also provides improvements to gaming performance in Windows 7 vs. Windows Vista. Other improvements claimed include a boost to Folding@Home performance when running the latest client in conjunction with the 9.3 drivers, as well as improvements to game performance where frame rates are CPU limited (the example given claims up to 20% for Lost Planet: Colonies when running 4800 series cards). So why not pick up the 9.3 Catalyst driver suite from AMD and try it out.
