To DDR3 or not to DDR3? That is the question. But with MSI’s new boards, you don’t have to choose. With the AM3 based 790GX-8D and the P45 based P45-8D, you can have either DDR3 or DDR2. While the P45 based board doesn’t offer much, the AM3 board is worth typing over. It supports the newer AM3 processors with either DDR2-1066 or DDR3-1333 memory, as well as supporting the older AM2+ processors. It has 2 PCIe x16 slots for CrossFireX, or you can use Hybrid CrossFireX with the on-board graphics. And of, course, for the overclocker in all of us, it uses “DrMOS” high quality voltage converters, has an onboard control dial for overclocking, and a reset button for clearing the CMOS RAM.
