RV790 - A Whole New Chip

The rumour mills have really been spinning the last few months as AMD/ATI prepare to launch their new RV790 chip. A lot of people have been speculating that it was just an overclocked RV770 chip, but AMD/ATI had a trick up their sleeve - it's a completely new 55nm chip! Although similar to the RV770, this new chip should give a nice improvement on performance, and we should see the chip being able to breeze past the GTX 260 and be right on nVIDIA's GTX 285 trail. Seems that AMD/ATI wants 55nm to go out with a bang, and they certainly have accomplished that!
