Nvidia has released another iteration of videocards based on the G92 GPU, this time under the GTS 250 naming convention. Offered in two different frame buffer sizes - 52MB and 1GB - the cards will be priced at $129 and $149 respectively. It's certainly no coincidence that yesterday's news included an item reporting on price cuts on AMD's HD 4850 and HD 4870 cards to the same levels. As the follow on card to the 9800GTX+, the GTS 250 shares many of the same characteristics such as clock speed (738MHz), memory speed (1100MHz), the same 256-bit memory bus and the same amount of shader cores (128). With the processor based on a 55nm process along with other gains made in power efficiency, the GTS 250 now only requires a single 6-pin power connector, down from from the two required for its predecessor.
