If you're getting a tax return a brand new video card may be on your list for potential purchases. Some "sources" have established that ATI, a division of AMD, will be cutting prices to both its Radeon 4850 and 4870 models. The Radeon 4870 512MB model will drop about $50, from a price point around $199 to about $149. This will put it in the price range of Nvidia's 8800GT, 9800GT and 9800GTX however the performance should exceed these cards and put it in just below the GTX260, giving it a great price/performance ratio. ATI's 4850 will drop to a price point of around $129, giving Nvidia's upcoming GTX250 some competition. Expect to see the price drops sometime early this week.
