Intel To Sink $7bn Into U.S. 32nm Manufacturing Facilities

Intel announced today that it will be spending $7 billion over the next two years to establish manufacturing facilities in the Untied States that will produce parts on its 32nm process. Processors to be built using the process carry the "Westmere" codename and will be the next step for the recently released Nehalem architecture. The ramp up of 32nm parts will start this year, with more to come in 2010. The investment in U.S. based facilities is good news for the American Manufacturing sector, with Intel President and CEO Paul Ottelini saying "We’re investing in America to keep Intel and our nation at the forefront of innovation".
