Antec today announced a new power supply, the CP-850, that makes use of a new form factor designed specifically for its cases. The CP-850 is a part of Antec's new CP series of high-performance power supplies that is designed for better airflow and quieter operation. With today's power hungry machines demanding higher wattages PSUs, Antec claims the nearly 20-year old PS/2 standard form factor has led to wasteful energy consumption and higher costs for consumers. Its new CPX form factor is an expanded design that makes for better circuit board layout that allows more room between components and a straight through air flow path. The CP-850 uses a 120mm pulse width modulation fan for quieter, cooler operation and is 80+ certified. The new unit also features active PFC, modular cable management and two 8-pin PCI Express, two 6-pin PCI Express and nine serial ATA connectors and four +12V rails. The CP-850 will fit several of Antec's gaming cases including the Twelve Hundred, P183 and P193. The unit is currently available for an estimated price of $149.95US and comes with a five-year warranty.
