Intel recently has decided to go ahead and drop the cost of their 80GB X-25M solid state drive to a nicer looking price tag of $390. With the drop in cost for the drive, more consumers may be looking at Intel’s storage device, out of the numerous ones they have manufactured, for use in their own personal systems. Previously, the drive could be had for just under $600 in quantities up to 1000 units. This obviously was too much for most consumers to spend on storage, as a good budget desktop system can be built for roughly the same price. Other drives by the processor manufacturer are still set high as far as price is concerned, but performance is getting cheaper as time goes on overall.
