A manufacturer releasing a Radeon HD4870X2 card isn't really news, as the part has been available for quite some time now. However, it is still the top of the line card in the ATI/AMD stable at the moment and what is more interesting is that it is XFX that is releasing it. A long time NVIDIA partner, XFX announced it would start selling Radeon 4000 series based cards late last year. The HD 4870 X2 will complete the line up of cards, which already includes other models in the 4000 series. As far as the card itself, you get everything you expect, that being 2GB of GDDR5 along with 1600 (800 x 2) stream processors and all that other good stuff. Typically, XFX is keeping quiet on pricing for now.
