Third Generation iPhone Discovered In Firmware

While poking around inside the iPhone 2.x firmware, MacRumors discovered and entry for "iPhone2,1" which could represent a 3rd generation iPhone. The original iPhone or iPhone Edge was listed as "iPhone1,1" while the 2nd generation iPhone or iPhone 3G is listed as "iPhone1,2". These numbers are not changed for storage increases, which would indicate that the next iPhone may have some major hardware upgrades.

There are two major rumors floating around right now. The first, which I think is less likely would be an "iPhone Nano" which as the name suggest is a smaller iPhone. The other possibility, and the one I find far more likely, would be a multi-core CPU and/or GPU. Multi-cores in a cell phone? It isn't that crazy. The iPhone isn't just a cell phone it is also a highly popular gaming platform and rates up there with the Nintendo DS, Sony PSP, and the Nokia N-Gage.

While the thought of a multi-core iPhone sounds good to me, I'd be happy if they added MMS, video recording, and Bluetooth/WiFi syncing. Oh, and maybe a 32G version.

People find the iPhone hard to type with...I can imagine how horrid typing on an iPhone Nano would be. EEK!

I have problems when the phone is vertical, but the landscape keybaord isn't bad (IMO) and I have big fingers. The iPhone's auto correct also helps me a lot... now if they'd just put a dang landscape keyboard in the mail.app I'd be thrilled. Though I suppose I could go get me one of these. :D

Lack of MMS support is the one reason I don't have an iPhone right now.

I understand why they don't have it (because you can send via email), but I still think it is silly. I really want to be able to receive MMS more than I care about sending.
