Two different divisions, consumer and component, will now make up SAMSUNG after a recent announcement by the company that it will be dividing into two parts. The consumer unit will be lead by Choi Gee-sun, who was head of the mobile phone operations at the company when it passed Motorola to take the second spot in cell phone sales. He was also the overseer in the television business before that, where SAMSUNG held the top lead in televisions worldwide. The components division will be lead by CEO Lee Yoon-woo, who was an executive in the company’s semiconductor arm until he moved into the position of CEO last May. In both divisions, despite what most companies are doing in the economic decline, plans are already being made to produce more semiconductor chips and unveil new television products.
