Microsoft’s Silverlight program has had many pros and cons throughout its release since version 1.0, mainly with its mainstream use with NBC and their broadcast of the Olympics, as well as the downfall of the technology’s use on the Major League Baseball Advanced Media site. Even though these things have occurred, version 1.0 didn’t really feature too many options for web developers, while the new version 2.0 which debuted in October of last year, really kicked off the program. Now, Microsoft is announcing that it will use Silverlight to stream Barack Obama’s swearing-in ceremony live. This stream will be able to be found on the Presidential Inaugural Committee’s website when it takes place. A Las Vegas online content-delivery company, known as IStreamPlanet is working with Microsoft in order to stream the event.
