AMD Introduces New Yukon Mobile Platform

AMD unveiled its new Yukon mobile platform designed for the ultra-portable, lower-cost notebook market. The announcement was made in conjunction with HP who partnered with AMD on the development. HP will be introducing its new Pavilion dv2 laptop designed around the Yukon platform. While it was announced today, it will be officially launched this week at CES in Las Vegas. The platform includes AMD's new single-core Athlon Neo MV-40 processor clocked at 1.6GHz and the M690T chipset. An optional discrete ATI Radeon HD3410 graphics card can be used as well. HP's Pavilion dv2 is a 12.1 inch laptop with up to 4GB of DDR2 memory and hard drives ranging from 160GB to 500GB and will be offered at a starting price of $699. AMD has announced plans for a follow up dual-core version later in 2009.
