After producing hard drives that were made with a five year warranty, Seagate is now announcing that it will shorten the warranty on all hard drives made on January 3rd, 2009 to three years. Customers should not be affected by this decision too heavily though, as the company reports that ninety-five percent of all the drives returned are sent back within a three year period. On average, competitors of Seagate also award their customer with a three year warranty. Drive manufacturing quality should not change at all, only the warranty which those hard drives, after the beginning of next year, fall under.

And considering 75% of my last 4 Seagate drives had to be sent off in under 6 months I guess it wont affect me either...
