Sony The Latest To Announce Job Cuts

Sony is planning to shed 8,000 jobs over the next two years, along with a 10% reduction in worldwide manufacturing facilities. It also expects to cut at least as many temporary or contract positions, though details of where we can expect any of the lay-offs to occur aren't mentioned. Simply cutting jobs is unlikely to achieve the result Sony are looking for, so the company will also be reducing investments and looking to outsource the production of certain products. We have already seen plenty of similar cutbacks from other companies and will likely see plenty more as the global economic climate continues to put pressure on consumers.
