RealNetworks Cuts Employees
The music service company, who also manages the popular music media manager RealPlayer, will be cutting around 130 workers from its staff. The vice president of the company, Bill Hankes, said that the cuts are due to a budgeting process that is in the works of being performed. Rob Glaser, CEO and chairman, stated that some of the cuts made were not enacted because of the economy. The cuts seem to affect all divisions of the company, and workers who were laid-off will be kept on the payroll until the end of the year. Cuts made by RealNetworks account for about eight percent of its total work force.
