Security firm Secunia APS reports that 98.1 percent of the PCs scanned during the past wee with its Personal Software Inspector (PSI) tool revealed at least one software application that had not been updated with the latest patches. PSI scans users' computers for applications installed and then compares those applications to the latest versions. Secunia released version 1.0 of PSI on November 25 and over 120,000 people downloaded the free utility. Fewer than 2% of users had completely up to date machines with 45 percent of the machines scanned having 11 or more unpatched programs.
