FCC to Vote on Free Wireless Broadband

Back in August, we reported that Federal Communications Commission Chairman Kevin Martin was pushing for free wireless broadband across the United States. It seemed to be getting closer to seeing the light of day when a small wireless start-up M2Z announced its plan to bid on the wireless airwaves, called AWS-3, that would be auctioned off, but the plan was not without opposition. On December 18, the FCC is finally going to vote on whether the plan to auction the wireless airwaves will commence. If the vote passes, the AWS-3 auction will take place early next year.
