Intel has stated that it will launch its new quad-core processor, the Q8300, around this Sunday. The chip is rated at 2.5GHz and comes with a FSB of 1333MHz, while providing 4MB of L2 cache. This processor chip is said to mark the end of the quad-core processors for the company for a while. Intel will alternatively focus on their Centrino 2 platform, which seems to only have around thirty percent penetration of the market. The Q8300 has a set price tag of $224 and will fall in line between the Q9300 and the Q8200, which both sell for $266 and $193 respectively.
