New Catalyst Driver Coming Soon

ATI is planning to release its new Catalyst driver suite, version 8.12, on the second Wednesday of next month, December 10th. The graphics chip maker is counting on this new driver to combat the new NVIDIA GeForce drivers that were recently released and improved performance upon many new titles, such as Far Cry 2, Dead Space, and Fallout 3. Both single card and CrossFire setups are said to be affected in the optimizations that are to be included in the Catalyst 8.12 driver. Performance numbers cannot yet be determined though, due to the new driver not being available in a beta form for testing.
