EA Hit with More Lawsuits Over DRM

Game publisher Electronic Arts has been served with more lawsuits over its use of SecuROM digital rights management software in its games. When EA released its new Spore game and the companion Creature Creator there was a huge backlash from consumers over its inclusion of DRM and the limited installs it allowed. EA tired to dispel some of the fury by easing up on the restrictive nature of the DRM. The spate of lawsuits began in September when a California woman sued after discovering that installing Spore also installed the SecuROM software as well, which wasn't disclosed in the EULA. Now, two additional lawsuits have come to life concerning titles Mass Effect and the Spore Creature Creator that are similar to the first suit and, interestingly, were all brought by the same law firm as the original lawsuit. One more lawsuit has been filed over similar issues with SecuROM in Spore, but includes a more inclusive list of games including Command & Conquer, Medal of Honor, Sims2 and others.

I have SecuROM on my PC, as I found out with Rootkit Revealer. Turns out that I have traced it down to Sims 2 Bon Voyage program. Well, They deserve to have this. Sure I don't pirate, but EA, What are you trying to pull? It's not your PC, and you shouldn't be selling crippleware to people that messes up people's PCs.
