Heart Hazards Due To Earbuds

A recent report from Harvard researchers now shows that earbuds may have negative effects on pacemakers and implantable cardioverter defibrillators. With the earbuds next to the pacemakers or ICDs less than 1.2 inches away, the heart may receive false signals which may cause it to skip beats, or shutdown in the case of ICDs. This problem is directly related to the magnets founds in headphones and the closeness of them with implantable cardioverter defibrillators and pacemakers. Since the problem is with the internal magnet inside of the earbuds, the heart may still encounter this problem of skipping beats or defibrillator shutdown, even with the music player or device turned off.
