Thecus is a name synonymous with network attached storage and has been a player in the SOHO and SMB markets with its lineup of NAS appliances ranging from 3-bay to 7-bay units. Thecus is moving further into the enterprise market with today's announcement of the N8800 2U rack mount NAS server. Equipped with a Celeron processor and 1GB of DDR2 memory, the N8800 features eight SATA drive bays capable of storing up to 8TB of data. If that's not enough, the N8800 offers plenty of expansion room with its stackable design allowing an additional five units to be connected together and managed from a central location. As one would expect in an advanced server, the N8800 supports multiple RAID levels (0, 1, 5, 6, 10 and JBOD) along with hot swap, hot spare and auto-rebuild capabilities. The n8800 is right at home in any environment whether its Windows, Mac or Linux as it supports SMB/CIFS, HTTP/HTTPS, FTP, NFS v3, or AFP protocols. The N8800 even allows you to start out small and grow as your storage needs increase with its RAID level migration and expansion features.
