Gigabyte unveiled its Ultra Durable 3 technology last month with a host of new features designed to increase performance and lower temperatures and energy consumption. Incorporating two ounces of copper in the power and ground layers of the PCB, Gigabyte has doubled the amount usually used in a board. This allows the Gigabyte boards to achieve greater heat dissipation, better signal quality and lower impedance. Gigabyte also choose to use Low RDS(on) MOSFETs which provide lower power consumption and generate up to 16% less heat than traditional MOSFETs. UD3 motherboards also make use of 50,000 hour Japanese solid capacitors for greater reliability and longevity. Gigabyte's Ultra Durable 3 P45 motherboards also offer official support for DDr2 memory at 1366MHz that have reached 1500+MHZ in overclocking trials.
