Some of our members followed live blogs from Apple's notebook event today, which saw them announce details on the new Macbook lineup. The new notebooks see the lineup transition to all aluminum, apart from the previous generation white Macbook, which gets a $100 price cut to bring it to $999. Use of an NVIDIA chipset was confirmed, with the benefit that it will provide much improved graphics capabilities over Intel's IGP options. The refresh also sees the introduction of LED backlit screens, multi-touch glass trackpads and a new manufacturing process that allows the designs to stay light while improving structural strength. Connections options are homogenised across the lineup and now lineup down one side of the notebooks, with display output being dealt with by a mini Display Port connector. Expect the new models to be appearing at Apple stores from as soon as tomorrow.
