Google has announced that is launching the Beta of its AdSense for Games program, which will initially focus on ad placement in Flash based casual games, as well as some larger titles such as Konami's Dance Dance Revolution. There are already some established players in the in-game advertising market, such as Microsoft owned Massive, but the introduction of Google highlights that this is a growing sector with long term potential. One of the keys to how well Google can expect to do will be how they integrate ads into targeted games, with strategies that don't impact gamers experience of game play negatively while generating revenue potentially being a careful balancing act.
