Apple and AT&T's Antitrust Lawsuit to Proceed
Filed on behalf of two iPhone owners, the lawsuit seeking $1.2 billion in damages is moving forward. Apple and AT&T are being sued for the iPhone being locked to AT&T's wireless network and because Apple's 1.1.1 update specifically targeted unlocked SIM cards, disabling the iPhones entirely. Apple and AT&T attempted to get the case dismised, but the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California ruled that there is sufficient evidence of monopolization and thus denied the motion to dismiss. The judge also denied the motion to compel arbitration, so unless Apple and AT&T decide to settle, it looks like they will be heading to court.
