A judge has issued a temporary restraining order after several Hollywood studios sued RealNetworks over its RealDVD ripping software. The order went into effect over the weekend and RealNetworks pulled the software from its web site blaming Hollywood for the shutdown. Real has claimed that its software allows users to make a legal copy of their DVDs as it does not remove the studios' encryption from the copies. RealNetworks is fighting back having already filed a counter-suit against several of the studios. In addition to the restraining order, RealNetworks was placed under a gag order by the court preventing them from further commenting on the matter.
