More details surrounding the Nehalem processors are coming out of the Intel Developer Forum, but we already know the first processors to be released will be referred to as Core i7 and will make use a new format based on Socket 1336. ASUS has revealed its P6T Deluxe motherboard for Core i7 and it has got some new features not seen before. Of interest to overclockers is a handheld remote that allows on-the-fly overclocking of the CPU while running benchmarks. Because the Nehalem processors will feature triple channel memory support, the P6T Deluxe sports a bank of six DIMMs instead of the usual four. The board will also support both SLI and CrossFire. Kicking up the board's appeal to enthusiasts is something usually seen only on server-grade boards and that's the inclusion of a SAS RAID controller. SAS stands for serial-attached SCSI and is compatible with both SAS and SATA drives and offers faster throughput when used with SAS drives.
