In what is the largest set of patches released by Microsoft in 18 months, today's 'Patch Tuesday' includes fixes for 26 bugs, six of them rated 'critical'. Windows, Office, Windows Messenger and Internet Explorer were all affected. Two of the fixes are for flaws that have already seen exploits released in the wild. Originally 12 different patches were expected, but absent from the patch list was for one or more problems in Windows Media Player 11 which was removed from the list prior to the patches being released. The two fixes with exploits were for a problem in the Snapshot viewer in MS Access and another for a flaw in MS Word. Several IE bugs were addressed as well.
