Intel's next CPUs currently scheduled to be released this year have been referred to using the Nehalem code name but all that's about to change. Intel will officially market these processors under the Intel Core brand. The first of these Nehalem chips, due out later this year, will be geared toward high-end gaming and enthusiast PCs as an Extreme Edition processor known as the Intel Core i7. Other processors will be released under different identifiers, but they all share the common Intel Core moniker. In the past, Intel has used Core Duo, Core Solo etc, but the latest offering simplifies the naming convention down to just plain Core. Nehalem processors will be produced initially on the 45nm manufacturing process with an integrated memory controller and Intel's QuickPath technology providing a high-speed interconnection between the processor and another processor or another chip on the motherboard.
