Three French journalists working for Global Security Mag were forced to leave the Black Hat conference for spying on their fellow journalists. The trio had their badges confiscated and were banned from this weekend's Defcon conference as well as all future events. The journalists allegedly sniffed the network in use at Black Hat's press room. They managed to snatch usernames and passwords and attempted to have them posted on the Wall of Sheep at the conference but were turned down. The WoS project monitors wireless network activity at the conference but said the press room was off limits. The journalists claimed they were only trying to heighten awareness of the dangers and privacy issues of using public Internet connections. So much for professional courtesy I suppose.
