It's a story that has been going on for months now and still refuses to die. The latest hopes of some kind of deal emerging seem to be pinned on getting a new board of directors elected at Yahoo's August shareholder meeting, which Microsoft could then start fresh talks with. Billionaire shareholder Carl Icahn is one of the driving forces trying to oust the Yahoo board, allowing them to potentially salvage a deal with the Remond giant. Yahoo has said that the move is not in the best interest of shareholders and as part of an issued statement said "If Microsoft and Mr Ballmer really want to purchase Yahoo, we again invite them to make a proposal immediately." If you don't have some kind of involvment with either company and can still muster up the energy to care, then you are a better person than I am.
