Hot Coffee Suit Fizzles

"Hot Coffee".  Mention just those two little words, and 95% of internet users know exactly what you're talking about. It may have something to do with the fact that in the U.S. alone, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas sold over 9.1 million copies since its 2004 release. When hidden sex scenes were uncovered by modders, a national uproar arose, with people quickly taking sides on whether publisher Take-Two Interactive should be held responsible for mods to its game post-release. Well, any buyer who was offended by the hidden sex in the game could have filed a claim under a settlement lawyers struck with Take-Two and developer Rockstar Games. Yet, despite those 9.1 million copies sold, only 2,676 claims were filed, amounting to less than $30,000 that Take-Two will pay to resolve those claims. Yes, mathematicians, that's less than three hundredths of a percent of all buyers. With such a low payoff, Take-Two said it will give $860,000 to charity. So I guess the lesson here is that sex doesn't really offend the buyers of violent video games. Go figure.
