Market researcher NPD Group reported that U.S. retail sales of video games, consoles and game accessories were up 37% in May over the same month last year, reaching $1.12 billion, helped by the huge success of Grand Theft Auto IV. Hardware sales rose 34% and software sales rose 41%. Nintendo's Wii and DS captured the number one and two spots in hardware units sold, respectively, for the fourth straight month.
