Citing numerous contract infringements, the City of Los Angeles will sue CATV giant Time-Warner, claiming that hundreds of thousands of customers were "ripped off" by the company. The City alleges that the CATV provider misled customers regarding the quality of its service, and has subjected LA customers to unusually long customer service hold times and service work delays. Another California town, Costa Mesa, is considering similar action against Time-Warner. The CATV giant has suffered a sizeable backlash recently, mainly due to poor customer service practices and its fledgling metered Internet service project, which the company claims will more fairly bill subscribers who do not use much Net bandwidth each month.
