Pigs are flying, the fat lady is singing and the Navy successfully shot down a missile. Well maybe it isn’t as surprising as a pig flying but at least it was successful. The Navy was able to shoot down a Scud like missile in a test of its new Aegis ballistic missile technology. Eighteen Navy vessels currently house the Aegis missile system and this new upgrade would allow them to defend themselves and others against missile attacks. The 40 million dollar test showed that Navy ships are able to shoot down short-range missiles with weapons systems they already have in place. The Navy plans to upgrade these existing eighteen systems already in place over the next twenty months. The first ever missile interception from a vessel at sea came from a Japanese ship containing a similar system in December so the United States isn’t that far behind. Keep up the good work guys!
