Microsoft Make Search Deal With HP
Microsoft's Live Search falls behind both Google (who top the field by a considerable margin) and Yahoo in terms of traffic. In an attempt to bolster these numbers, Microsoft has signed a deal with Hewlett Packard, which will make Live Search the default search engine on all HP built machines (in the US and Canada) starting from January 2009. MS already has a similar deal running with Lenovo, but notably market leaders Google have deals with both Dell and the Firefox web browser. This move from Microsoft comes after dropping out of the bid to buy Yahoo after lengthy negotiation and speculation in the media.
