An electrical fire and explosion at ThePlanet's H1 data center in Houston resulted in a power outage knocking 9,000 servers offline. At approximate 4:55 PM CDT on Saturday, a short circuit in the electrical equipment caused an explosion powerful enough to knock down three walls. No one was injured and none of the servers or networking equipment were damaged in the explosion. However, due to the resulting power outage many websites hosted at the site were unavailable and none of the backup generators could be used due to fire department instructions. As of 7:47 PM Sunday, management teams were still scrambling to restore power to the site. More information can be found at ThePlanet forums.
