Intel announced it is pushing the release date for its new Centrino 2 mobile platform back. Originally scheduled for late June, the new release date is set for July 14. Citing issues discovered in the platform's integrated graphics and problems encountered in securing certification for the built-in wireless 802.11n, Intel will likely not announce the platform, code-named Montevina, at the upcoming 2008 Computex show as had been previously speculated. Intel did not provide specifics as to the problem with the integrated graphics and the related chipsets. AMD is also set to launch its own mobile platform upgrade in early June and this misstep by Intel will provide AMD an opportunity to show off its Puma platform ahead of Intel.
