Senator Joseph Lieberman (Connecticut-D) has asked Google to remove videos from YouTube posted by Islamic terrorist groups. A recent report by the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, which Lieberman chairs, stated that the Internet is the easiest and fastest for these groups to disseminate information to followers around the world. Some of these videos are used for propaganda and weapons training purposes. Lieberman claims a large number of these videos detail attacks on U.S. forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. As such, these videos would appear to be in violation of YouTube's community guidelines and the senator wants Google, the parent company of YouTube, to enforce those guidelines and remove the terrorist-related content, including those that were not violent in nature. YouTube responded by removing some of the videos but not those that didn't contain violence or hate speech.
